Set in the Acomb area of York, Abbeyfield House was built in 1964 with renovation work carried out in 2000. The house has nine single rooms and a one bed flat with a self contained kitchen.
Acomb is a York suburb just a couple of miles from the city centre. It is a busy area with many shops, cafes, supermarkets and pubs.
The house has a communal lounge and dining area, a mini-kitchen on each floor and a laundry room with washing machines and a drier. We have a very attractive secluded garden with a summer house, surrounded by bright flowers and mature trees. It is a perfect place for spending time in the warm weather and is the ideal location for summer socialising.
Food here is delicious, with three meals freshly prepared each day by our very caring support staff.
Residents enjoy organising their own activities and entertainment but also enjoy getting together for morning coffee and meals. We have talks, slide shows, quizzes and games afternoons from time to time.
We also arrange occasional outings for coffee, trips to the theatre and local garden centre visits. We have regular communion visits by the local churches.
This is a cosy, peaceful and friendly house with great volunteer support.
